PawSlice Ottawa — Privacy Policy
PawSlice Ottawa (“the app”) is a free, local-first iOS app created by Tricia Friedman. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.
Information we do not collect
The app does not require an account, does not include analytics, does not use third-party advertising, and does not transmit personal information to any server operated by us or anyone else. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
Information that stays on your device
Entries you create in the app — including slice logs, ratings, notes, finalist picks, badges, and any restaurants you mark as “needs review” — are stored locally on your device using Apple’s UserDefaults storage. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.
If you delete the app, this local data is removed with it.
Permissions
The app does not request access to your location, camera, photo library, contacts, microphone, or notifications.
Children
The app is rated suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect any information from children or adults.
Third parties
The app does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. Restaurant information shown in the app comes from a curated starter list maintained by the developer based on publicly available information. Restaurants are not partners, sponsors, or affiliates of the app.
Changes to this policy
If the app adds features that change what data is handled (for example, cloud sync, accounts, or analytics), this policy will be updated and the effective date above will change.

Frequently asked questions
Is my data backed up to the cloud?
No. This version of the app is local-first. Your slice logs, notes, finalists, and badges are stored only on your device. If you delete the app or switch devices, that data is not automatically transferred.
Why isn’t my favorite pizza spot in the list?
The current version ships with a curated starter list of Ottawa pizza places based on publicly available information. It is not a complete real-time directory. If a place is missing or has changed, email us and we can add or update it in a future release.
Can I suggest a restaurant or correction?
Yes. Inside the app you can mark a place as “Needs review” from the detail sheet. You can also email suggestions or corrections to tricia@shiftingschools.com.
Does the app order pizza, take reservations, or deliver?
No. The app does not integrate ordering, delivery, or reservations. It is a personal discovery and tracking tool only.
Does the app cost anything?
No. The app is free. There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, and no ads.
Does the app use my location?
No. Location access is not requested.
How do I reset the demo data?
Open the Badges screen and tap “Reset demo data” to restore the original seeded state.
